{week 16}

16 weeks
Week 16 (Sep 15 – Sep 21)
I feel like a broken record, but once again this weekend and week were busy busy.  I had a great time with the photo shoot on Saturday (see some pictures from it here), and I had almost as much fun that afternoon helping to move my cousin into her new apartment (this is probably because my job consisted of unpacking and organizing…much more fun than moving boxes :).  Sunday I spent at home, but still kept busy around the house.  I made a good dent in de-cluttering the one last room on my list, and got a ton of stuff packed away.  Work was again busy busy, and I don’t really see an end in sight there.  But it sure makes the days go by fast. :)  Friday night I attended a 31 party at my friend Ashley’s house…bought way more than I needed, but when has that ever stopped me before?! :)
I also got a birth photographer booked this week (check her out here – she is AWESOME).  I know you are probably thinking birth photography sounds weird, but I assure you it isn’t.  It’s beautiful, and I’m so happy Matt got on board with this (let’s just say he was less than excited at first…).  We will also be doing a maternity session with her in the fall (well, hopefully…assuming I actually have a belly by then!).  I’m SO excited. :)
Size of baby: avocado (yum, guacamole anyone?!)
Total weight gain/loss:  9lbs.  I’m not getting back on the scale until I go to the doctor again. :)
Maternity clothes? still haven’t worn any of them
Stretch marks? Not yet
Sleep: same story.  Although I did have a few select nights of pretty decent sleep this week, which I was very thankful for!
Symptoms: more headaches. They seemed to taper off towards the end of the week…also very thankful for that!
Best moment this week: Going to lunch with my BFF Jessica this week, and finding out she is throwing me an “It’s A Baby!” party. Sort of like a gender reveal party, but we all know I can’t wait to share the news, so everyone will already know and we’ll just celebrate.  Hooray for parties!
Movement: not yet, but I read in my book that starting next week it’s actually possible to begin feeling baby.  Of course it’s different for everyone, but I’m anxiously awaiting feeling that first flutter. :)
Food cravings: no change here, sweets all day long.  Matt came home with cupcakes one night this week…he knows how to keep this pregnant girl happy. :)
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope!
Have you started to show yet: I’m still saying not really.  It hasn’t “popped” yet, still just looks like pudge to me.
Gender prediction: the overall consensus from family and friends is girl – I’m thinking the same thing, but we’ll see.  ONE WEEK FROM TUESDAY WE FIND OUT!!  I may be a little excited. :)
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Matt finishing his side job next week, and finally being home again!  I’m putting him right back to work helping me get this house ready to go on the market, though, hopefully he won’t mind. :)

{week 15}

15 weeks
Week 15 (Sep 8 – Sep 14)
Another busy weekend, followed by another busy week!  The Chiefs game was fun (well, up until the part where we lost…), I learned everything there is to know about cloth diapering at a free class at a local diaper store (and believe me, there is a LOT to know), and Matt and I went to a consignment sale, and saw more baby stuff than we could even process!  I started reading Baby Bargains, so I can get a handle of just what all we really need to be buying/registering for.  Seeing the bazillions of items at that consignment sale, and having no idea whether we actually needed any of it, or how much it’s supposed to cost made me realize I need to start actually researching this stuff.  I’ve learned a lot already, the book was definitely a worthwhile purchase.  Other than that, nothing too exciting to report.  This weekend will be another busy one with a photo session on Saturday, followed by moving my cousin into her apartment, and then hopefully lots more de-cluttering and packing on Sunday.
Size of baby: orange
Total weight gain/loss: sticking with the doctor’s number… 9lbs.
Maternity clothes? I got 2 more pairs of pants and a dress at the consignment sale this week.  I have still yet to actually wear any of these maternity clothes I’ve bought, but I will probably give in soon…
Stretch marks? Not yet
Sleep: no changes, still pretty iffy.
Symptoms: headaches. and more headaches.  Tylenol sucks.
Best moment this week: watching Matt look through all the baby stuff at the consignment sale…it was so cute. I was surprised he even wanted to go, let alone actually wander through the book and toy sections looking through everything.  He was especially fond of a wooden tool bench set… I wonder why :)
Movement: not yet
Food cravings: sweeeeeeeeets.
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope!
Have you started to show yet: the “bump” continues to grow, but I still think it looks like a beer belly.
Gender prediction: girl (we find out 2 weeks from Tuesday!!!)
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: One of my first sessions since launching my photography website, and a hopefully less busy week.

{week 14}

 14 weeks
Week 14 (Sep 1 – Sep 7)
Well, I had a very productive long weekend, followed by a busy week at work (and another doctor’s appointment snuck in there).  I spent the long weekend going through every inch of every closet along with our 2nd bedroom/office and laundry room, to de-clutter and reorganize.  I’m determined to get this house on the market in the next month (hopefully less!) and my assignment from our lovely realtor was to clear out as much “stuff” as possible so that the house looks bigger and more open.  I just have one room left, and then I call in reinforcements to help move all of the junk into storage.  Aside from that major task, Matt and I did sneak a little quality time in even though he was working most of the weekend, with a quick night out for ice cream, dinner at Jalapeno’s (I hadn’t been there in ages and oh my goodness I want to go back like now), and breakfast on Labor Day at IHOP (can you say Chocolate Chip Pancakes?).  Funny how our quality time now revolves around me eating… hmmm… Anyway, once Tuesday rolled around it was time for another doctor’s appointment!  It was another uneventful appointment where we spent more time in the waiting room than we did with the doctor, but uneventful is good in this situation. :)  We heard the heartbeat once again, although the little booger was moving around and making it difficult for Dr. C to find, but we heard it and she said that it still sounded great!  Hooray!  Our next appointment is in 4 weeks and that’s our big ultrasound.  Needless to say, I am counting down the days. :)
Size of baby: lemon
Total weight gain/loss: so, I guess my scale wasn’t lying.  According to the doctor’s office I’ve gained 7 lbs since my last appointment, bringing the total to 9.  Oops!  That seems like a lot to me, especially in only the first 3 1/2 months, but Dr. C assured me that it’s perfectly fine, and I’m right on track.  So there.  I’ll have another cupcake, please. :)
Maternity clothes? Mom and I may have got a little excited at Target on Saturday…  I now own a pair of jean capris, pair of jeans, 2 pairs of work pants, and 3 shirts.  I haven’t worn any of it yet, but I’m happy to have a good start of a collection for when this belly finally decides to pop.
Stretch marks? Not yet
Sleep: same ol’ same ol’.  Fall asleep, wake up, spend 30 minutes trying to get back to sleep, wake up, go to the bathroom, spend 30 minutes trying to get back to sleep…wash, rinse, repeat.
Symptoms: I’m realizing how lucky I am, in that I have almost no symptoms at this point.  I’m still having pretty frequent headaches, and of course the sleep issues, but I will take both of those any day knowing that many women have it much harder.
Best moment this week: Hearing the heartbeat at the doctor, and being told everything still looks great.  Also, being told that it’s ok I’ve gained 9 lbs. already. :)
Miss Anything? I think this question will be going away soon too, because I don’t like trying to come up with something every week, it’s just kind of depressing.  As for this week…I missed going to the lake for Labor Day.  Since Matt was working we were stuck at home, and I won’t lie I was a little bummed.  But we still had our own little BBQ at home on Monday evening which made me feel more like it was a holiday weekend. :)
Movement: not yet
Food cravings: no change here, still have a major sweet tooth.
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope!
Have you started to show yet: a co-worker told me I was starting to look much more pregnant this week, but I’m still not so sure.  I think it was just the dress I was wearing that day.  Although when I look at this week’s picture, maybe she’s right.  I did the whole hand on the stomach, I’m a pregnant lady pose this week…that could be part of it. ;)
Gender prediction: 3 weeks and 4 days until we find out! (did I mention I’m counting down?!) I am feeling girl this week.
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on (the real one is back as of today :)
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Chiefs home opener this Sunday!  And a cloth diapering class I signed up for next week.

{week 13}

 13 weeks

Week 13 (Aug 25 – Aug 31)

I officially made it into the 2nd trimester!  Holy cow.  At first it felt like the first trimester was soooo loooonnnngggg, and then all of the sudden: bam. done.  On to the 2nd trimester.  I am guessing this one will fly by – from what I hear it’s the time when I’ll feel the best.  And I will say I’m already noticing that.  I actually have energy again, and I just feel better all around.  Hopefully I can actually take advantage of the next couple months. :)  As far as this week, it was a busy one at work, but otherwise pretty uneventful.  I did meet 2 of my favorite also-pregnant-ladies for dinner one evening after work, that’s always a good time.  Basically, I spent the entire week looking forward to the long weekend. And our doctor’s appointment next week!

Size of baby: peach

Total weight gain/loss: I didn’t bother stepping on the scale.  I’ll find out the true damage at the doctor next week.

Maternity clothes? I bit the bullet and made the first purchase.  Enough of my pants (work pants especially) are getting unbearably tight, that I figured I needed to just go ahead and buy some maternity pants.  I found a pair of jean capris on clearance (for $5!), and then a pair of slacks for work also on sale.  I’m still a bit baffled by the amount of elastic found on everything maternity, but the two things I got I can wear now, and should have some room to ‘grow’ into as well.

Stretch marks? Not yet

Sleep: frustrating.  Nothing has really changed, I’m just getting a little sick of waking up 10 billion times every night.  I suppose I should get used to this, though… :)

Symptoms: just headaches still.

Best moment this week: finding the heartbeat again on the Doppler, and recording it on my phone to play back for Matt when he got home.  Is that dorky?  Probably. Also probably not the first dorky thing I will do as a new mom. :)

Have you told family and friends: The cat is pretty much out of the bag at this point.  This question will probably go away in the next week or two because I really don’t know who else I can tell. :)

Miss Anything? Matt.  He’s been working evenings and weekends on a side job to make some extra moolah (babies are expensive, yo!), so I’ve had a lot of extra “me” time.  Not that that’s a bad thing, but weekends are a lot more fun with him around. :)

Movement: not yet

Food cravings: Sweets, sweets and more sweets.  The customer Matt is working for sent him home with cupcakes from a local bakery…she is my hero.  I’m trying to work a little harder at not indulging *every* craving…but Mr. Sweet Tooth that I live with isn’t helping.  I think he’s secretly (or maybe not so secretly) enjoying this craving of mine.

Anything making you queasy or sick: not this week!  hooray!

Have you started to show yet: I still think it looks like a beer belly.  (it’s welcome to change into a baby belly at any moment…)  Although this week’s picture seems to make it look quite large.  I think it’s an optical illusion. :)

Gender prediction: we know for sure 4 weeks from Tuesday!  I’m still clueless. I think I’m leaning towards boy again.

Belly Button in or out? in

Wedding rings on or off? on (well…technically off but not because of fat fingers. :)  I took my ring in to be checked and cleaned this week and they found a loose stone.  So now it’s being repaired, and I’m wearing the ring Matt gave me back when we were dating in its place.)

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!

Looking forward to: Our doctor’s appointment Tuesday!  I wish we got an ultrasound, I’m dying to see what the little pizza roll is looking like now.  But I suppose I’ll be patient and wait another 4 weeks…
