Happy Birthday Mom!

Last weekend was my mom's birthday. She turned 29 again. :) We celebrated at my grandma's house, and I took some pictures (imagine that)!

I'm sure I've mentioned her before, but Annie O is the most wonderful cake baker EVER. She baked our wedding cake, Matt's birthday cake, and now my mom's. She's also baking a cake for my cousin's graduation party later this year. Can you tell my family loves this woman's cake?! :D

YUM.

We had a really fun time celebrating my mom's birthday...she doesn't look anywhere near as old as she is, so here's to many more birthday celebrations to come.

Happy Birthday Mommy!

A tribute to my fishies

So I had this really LONG and drawn out post put together, but I decided it was lame-o. This topic really doesn’t deserve that long of a post, and no one really deserves to have to read it. :)

So. Long story short – we had to give our fish away recently. We’re remodeling, and anyone who has a fish tank knows how much of a PAIN they are to move, so we decided to take it down and not put it back up until we move (and who knows when that will be). The hubby took our little guys to the evil Petland (only because –not surprisingly- they were the only place that would take them), and hopefully they will go to another good home some day. I took a few pictures of the guys before they left us, just so I’ll have something to remember them by. Yes, I know I’m a dork.

Here's (a not so good) one of our set up. I just wanted to remember what the thing looked like before we took it all apart.

And here are a few (also not so good, but not terrible either) of the poor guys...

Hello eyeball...

Honestly I'm not sure if this is the same fish as above, or his brother. They kind of look the same...

And our loyal sucker. He was the nice one...

I will admit, I never really liked these fish. They are kind of ugly, and frankly quite mean (they ate their 3rd counterpart!). They were my pets though, so I actually am going to miss them. At least we were able to give them away (even if it was to a store who sells puppies that came from puppy mills!), and I didn’t kill them like I did our last bunch (long story…).

Bye bye my little fishies...I hope you make some family very happy somwhere.

And I'm done being a loser now.

The Honeymoon

First of all...sorry I've been MIA for the past month. I ran off and got married! Check out my wedding blog for some pics :)

Along with the wedding, came the Honeymoon! Not gonna lie...we were pretty excited for this trip. Ok we were REALLY excited. The hubs and I had never really been on a vacation together (other than weekend trips to the lake), so this was not only much needed for sanity's sake, but it was a brand new experience for us. We went to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and stayed at The Royal Resort. It. Was. Amazing. We had an absolute blast, and just about every day I find myself wishing I was still there. I took over 600 photos throughout our 7 night stay, but most were pretty cheesy I have to admit. I did get in a few good shots, which I will gladly share - the rest you will find in a slideshow at the end. So if you were looking for more "artisitc" photographs from our trip, then keep reading. If you just wanted to see us and what we did...skip down to the bottom. :)

First and foremost - my favorite pic of the hubby from the trip
Matt on the balcony
How stinkin cute is he?!?

My favorite beach picture
The beach
This one was taken in Cozumel...we took a day trip there. And I actually managed to get this one as we were driving down the road in a Jeep! Not bad, eh?

I love the movement in the waves in this one

Probably my second favorite photo of the hubs
Matt walking on the beach in Cozumel
This one was also taken in Cozumel

Cheers! (really wish this one wasn't so dark...)
Toasting to the start of our Honeymoon

And last but not least...
Our rings
Our rings on the beach - with a lovely foot in the background. This is sort of a cliche picture, but I couldn't resist. :)

And if you care to see a more comprehensive slideshow (actually 2 slideshows) of our trip...

Part 2...

And there you have it! I'm sad it's all over, but very happy that I have such beautiful photos to remember it by.

Hopefully my blogging hiatus has come to an end. I plan to do a lot more shooting soon, and am determined to keep up the bargain with Ash to start our once monthly shoot days. So stay tuned!

P.S. I finally got around to finishing the blog makeover! I also learned how to make my photos post bigger - but didn't upload them correctly in this particular post...oops. Anyway, going forward things will (hopefully) be looking a little different around here ;)
